Lost 4×11 – Cabin Fever

lost-4x11aмебели

A decent episode this week. Though not as great as I was expecting it to be, with so much Locke, Ben and Hurley, I expected more. Not all that much happened on their trip to the cabin. Locke had another dream, which helped him to find a map, which led to the cabin.

There are consequences to being chosen. Because destiny, John, is a fickle bitch.

The scene inside the cabin with Christian Sheppard and Claire was very odd. First thing I thought was, that we can now assume, Claire is dead as well, since she’s hanging out with her dead father, and even appeared to be happy about it. We still have no clue how Christian Sheppard is connected to Jacob / the island, but apparently he can speak on Jacob’s behalf, and tells Locke to ‘move the island’.

Meanwhile on the ship, the relentless soldier Keamy is getting ready to ‘torch the place’. I am assuming Frank the pilot will come up with some sort of plan to not let that happen. He already dropped the telephone so they can be found at the beach camp. We also got to see how the doctor ended up in the water with his throat slit.

The Locke flashbacks were nice to see. Mr. Eyeliner had already a keen eye on him even when he was just a boy (making paintings of the smoke monster).  He didn’t pass Alpert’s test though, when he choose the knife over the other items. Items he already owned ? I was thinking about reincarnation when I heard that and from what I read elsewhere this test is also done to determine the Dalai Lama, so we got a bit of buddism in there as well.

We also see the lawyer, Abbadon that visited Hurley earlier come to Locke later in his life when he got paralysed. This time he was disguised as an orderly, putting the idea of a walkabout in his head.

Locke was destined somehow to save the island, even when he was just born, as baby, the island didn’t allow him to die.

and ofcourse at the transmission.

Lost 4×10 – Something Nice Back Home

This episode was quite a contrast with last week. I don’t care too much for the Jack / Kate drama, and overall not much happened in this one. So I am not going to comment much on this one. Listen to The Transmission Podcast for more background and coverage ;).

Hurley was great though in this one, and apparently he’s getting more visits from Charley. Jack’s dad keeps popping up all over the place (always wearing white shoes ?). Claire wandered off into the jungle with her dad, is this where she gets killed or has some kind of accident ? I think Sawyer rescues the baby and will hand it over to Kate (as later refered to in the conversation she has with Jack about a promise). We also saw how the medicine and alcohol problems of Jack start to arrise after seeing his dad a few times, walking about the hospital.

Lost 4×09 – The Shape Of Things To Come

Lost is back this week after a four week hiatus, and we get a very high paced, action filled episode to make up for it ;). I read somewhere that this was supposed to be a Sayid centric episode, but it was more Ben centric than anything else. He sure gets around the world a lot, we saw Tunesia, Iraq and London, UK.

The encounter in the desert was interesting. Looked like he has followed some military training as well, taking out two baddies in one fell swoop. It seemed as if he didn’t know exactly where he landed, when he popped up there. Also asking what date and year it was, was a nice touch to keep us guessing about time travelling. He did make one big miscalculation this episode though. When his daughter was threatened to be executed, he just said he didn’t care about here etc. and hoped to get away with it. But the bad guys (hey they were in Uganda !) were really that bad and executed her in cold blood.

WordPress 2.5 Gallery

Unfortunately this new feature doesn’t seem to work properly. First of all I had to make some changes to the .htaccess file on my blog to make the upload and crunching stuff work. Found that out after some digging in the wordpress forums. I can now see that the images are on my server, but they don’t show in the gallery anywhere. Not in the admin interface and not in blogposts :(. The paths to the images are very weird, so I think that’s why they don’t show up.

As I really had a few pictures to show, I decided to go with NextGEN gallery which worked fine. The upload images as one big zip file is very handy and as you can see in the link below, the gallery works wonderfully well.

WordPress 2.5

WordPress 2.5 has been released ! I upgraded my blogs to 2.5 and it seems to work fine. The admin part of wordpress has been overhauled, and the dashboard is now actually more useful. Although it takes some getting used to. The 4 most important functions (write, manage, design, comments) are more prominent and are displayed on the left, settings and plugings, users are on the right in a smaller font on the right. Only thing I dont like is the new write post page, the category selection is now below the write area, don’t really see why that was changed, though it’s not a big deal. At least it looks better.

I also think that wordpress 2.5 feels somewhat snappier, when loading pages etc. and on one blog (my warcraft one) a php out of memory that sometimes occured, has disappeared, so that’s good ;).

All in all a very nice upgrade I think. If you haven’t done so you might want to consider upgrading your wordpress installation as well !

Lost 4×08 – Meet Kevin Johnson

This week’s episode was a Michael centric one, which was to be expected after the big ‘reveal’ last week. Apparently after somehow getting back to New York City Michael was unable to cope with his guild of killing two women. This has also affected Walt, he doesn’t want to talk to Micheal anymore and is now living with his grandma. Michael wants to kill himself but the Island won’t let him (did the gun just jam or did the bullet bounce off your skull ?).

Then in a stereotypical dark New York ally he meets Tom ! Tom is one of the Others who can go off the island from time to time, he doesn’t do it often so when he does he likes to indulge himself :). He shows Michael all the proof that Widmore is indeed behind the fake flight 815 on the bottom of the ocean, so it seems the captain of the freighter is indeed not to be trusted.
